| On June
14th, at 11:15 AM the first blast removed a section of the
Kissimmee S65B navigational lock. The first blast was done
to verify the effectiveness of the blast design for this
structure. The test blast looked great so the same blast
design will be used to demolish the rest of the lock
structure.
The picture below shows
the area of the lock that was demolished in the test blast. |
|
At 12:00
noon on June 15, the rest of the lock was demolished in a
single blast. The remote location of the lock allowed for
mass demolition of the structure. In a few days the area
will be leveled and the remnants of the lock will be forever
buried beneath the Floodplain of the restored Kissimmee
River. |

|
Less than
24 hours later, IT Corporation had the demolished lock
almost completely buried. |
 |
| Within 48
hours, the only sign that the lock ever existed was the
absence of vegetation over the area where it was. In a few
weeks even that will be restored. |
